The Spirit of Dag — The Meaning of Our Logo

Our emblem is built around a simple idea: renewal begins with courage – and courage begins at the core.

Five Lines for Five Actions

The five vertical lines represent the Five Actions proposed to revive the moral courage of the United Nations. Each line stands for one concrete step:

  • Veto Restraint in Atrocity Cases
  • Peacebuilding Fund – Rapid Mediation Window
  • Humanitarian Carve-Outs in Sanctions
  • Ceasefire Services Package
  • Accountability & Renewal

Rising together, these lines symbolise how aligned, practical actions can lift the international system towards integrity, restraint, and shared responsibility.

The Yellow Core — Conscience and Change

At the centre sits a small glowing yellow circle. It represents the moral core of the UN Charter – the conscience of the international community and the enduring spirit of Dag Hammarskjöld. It is the wish, and the will, to change the energy at the core of the system: to move from cynicism to responsibility, from indifference to action.

Change begins from within. A single point of resolve can radiate outward into policies, institutions, and lives.

The Blue Arc — Protection and Duty

The curved blue base suggests an arc of protection – the role of the United Nations in shielding human dignity, upholding international law, and containing the violence of war. It frames the rising lines just as the Charter frames the actions of nations.

The logo is not just a visual mark. It is a commitment: to remember why the Charter was written, to revive the UN’s moral compass, and to act – quietly, steadily, and courageously – in the spirit of Dag Hammarskjöld.
